Shickshinny, PA – The Huntington Creek Recovery Center (HCRC) recently celebrated its expansion into a new area of adolescent residential treatment services.  On November 22, 2022, HCRC held a private tour of its facility for organizations that helped with funds so that the facility could expand to include twelve new beds for adolescent females as well as two withdrawal management beds for adolescents.  The Pennsylvania Department of Drug (DDAP) and Alcohol Programs, the Northeast Behavioral Health Care Consortium (NBHCC) and the Behavioral Health Alliance of Rural Pennsylvania (BHARP) were among the organizations who were represented on the tour.

These new beds are in addition to the twelve male adolescent beds the facility already offers.  Previously, the facility offered fifty-eight detox beds as well as serving as a residential facility for both adults and adolescents.

“We are very pleased that the staff at Huntington Creek were willing to step up and meet the need for adolescent substance use disorder treatment,” said Sally Walker, CEO of BHARP.  “We look forward to working with the organization in the future as they develop and provide this service to the members in the BHARP counties.”

In 2023, HCRC plans to remodel a house on the property for use as treatment offices and meeting rooms.  They also plan to create additional office space and treatment rooms in their gym, as well as construct a learning center.

The center, which is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania, offers high-quality substance abuse treatment in a rural Pennsylvania setting with an emphasis on individual therapy and complete aftercare planning.
